City data

City names, regions and countries are derived from GeoNames, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0.

Rebo uses a compact JSON derivative of these GeoNames source files:

• cities15000 — city names, identifiers and alternate names.
• admin1CodesASCII.txt — first-level regions.
• countryInfo.txt — country names and codes.

The derivative retains fields used for city selection and search, joins region and country metadata, and omits unrelated source fields. It contains populated places above 15,000 people or capitals, including some urban districts.
